Troubleshooting Guide

If you are experiencing technical difficulties, crashes, or connectivity issues while trying to play on our server, please look through the common solutions below. Most technical problems can be resolved by following these standard procedures.

❌ Client Crashes & Error Messages

Q: I get a "Gravity Error" or the game crashes when entering specific custom maps (like Askald)[cite: 4].
A: This occurs when your game client is missing the latest map or sprite data.
  • Make sure you have downloaded our latest official GRF / Client Installer.
  • Ensure you are using a clean, updated Ragnarok Online base folder before applying our server files.
  • Run the updater/patcher as an Administrator to ensure all files are fully overwritten.

Client Closing with No Error Message
Q: The game client closes instantly without any error message when I try to open it.
A: This is usually caused by your Antivirus or Windows Defender blocking the client executable.
  • Add your entire server game folder to the Exclusions list in Windows Defender or your third-party Antivirus software.
  • Extract the client files again after setting the exclusion, as the antivirus may have already quarantined or deleted essential `.exe` or `.dll` files.

🖥️ Display & Resolution Issues

Q: The game screen is too small, or I get a "Failed to Set Graphic Device" error.
A: Your graphics settings or screen resolution need adjustment via the setup utility.
  • Open your game folder and right-click on opensetup.exe or setup.exe, then select "Run as Administrator".
  • Inside the setup panel, choose your primary Graphic Device from the dropdown menu (instead of leaving it blank).
  • Adjust the resolution to match your monitor's display settings, and ensure "Full Screen" or "Windowed Mode" is checked according to your preference.

🌐 Connectivity & Login Failures

Q: I am stuck at "Rejected from Server" or "Failed to Connect to Server".
A: This means your client cannot establish a secure link with our hosting nodes.
  • Check your internet connection or try restarting your router.
  • Ensure that your firewall is not blocking the game client's outbound network ports.
  • If the server is undergoing scheduled updates or maintenance, announcements will be posted immediately in our official Discord channels.
